A Weekend of Art, Little Treasures, and Lovely Connections
The studio is settling back into its everyday rhythm after a wonderful Bolton Harvard Open Studios weekend, and I’m feeling grateful for everyone who stopped by Glimmerbug.
Thank you for coming down our winding country road, stepping into the studio, and spending a little of your autumn weekend with me. Whether you chose a handmade treasure, signed up for a class, or stayed for a lovely conversation, you were part of what made the weekend special.
Little Treasures Found New Homes
It was such a pleasure to see which pieces caught your attention! Magnets were a big favorite, along with watercolor paintings, mixed media art, handmade art journals, and junk journals. Journaling supplies also found their way into visitors’ bags, ready for their next creative adventure.
The whimsical clay figurines brought a little personality to the displays, while surprise balls offered the fun of discovering tiny treasures tucked inside. Autumn scented sachets were another favorite—a small way to bring some seasonal coziness home.
Every purchase means so much to a small handmade business. These pieces begin at my worktable with paint, paper, ideas, and plenty of happy experimenting. Seeing someone connect with a finished piece is one of the loveliest parts of sharing my work.
So Much Excitement About Making Art
Class signups were a huge hit! Visitors were enthusiastic about both the in-studio classes and The Creative Art Village. It was lovely to help people find a creative experience that suited them, whether that meant gathering around the studio table or enjoying projects at home through our online community.
People especially enjoyed looking through the art journals and projects we create in The Creative Art Village. Being able to turn the pages, explore the details, and see the different ways we use watercolor, mixed media, and paper helped bring the Village experience to life.
Those samples sparked wonderful conversations—and plenty of ideas for what visitors might like to try themselves. I’m excited to welcome new faces into our creative gatherings!
“I’d Love to Try Art, but…”
Some of my favorite moments were the conversations about getting started.
Several visitors shared that retirement has finally given them time to explore something creative. Others said they would love to try painting or art journaling but weren’t sure where to begin—or whether they were “artistic enough.”
If that sounds familiar, I hope you’ll take this little encouragement with you: you don’t need to arrive knowing how to make art. You can begin with curiosity.
That’s the spirit behind my studio classes and The Creative Art Village. We try things, learn together, and enjoy the process. A page doesn’t need to be perfect to be worth making, and there is so much pleasure in giving yourself permission to play.
Let’s Keep Creating Together
If our conversations left you thinking about taking a class, I’d love to welcome you back to the studio. Explore upcoming in-person classes in Harvard, Massachusetts, on the Glimmerbug events page.
For creative inspiration you can enjoy at home, The Creative Art Village offers watercolor, mixed media, art journaling, and paper crafting in a warm, encouraging online community.
Thank you again for supporting my little studio and the joy of handmade art. I hope the treasures you brought home make you smile—and perhaps inspire a little creating of your own.
