Glimmerbug Mixed Media Handmade Art Blog
The Rochester Contemporary Art Center puts together a show every year that features 6" x 6" works from all over the world. They receive thousands of donated entries from many, many artists using all sorts of media. Each year, I love participating in this program because it helps the art center raise money for their programs as well and gives me the opportunity to get my artwork in front of an entirely new audience.
This year, my entry was of a mixed media village that I created this past week. In the past, this has been one of my favorite types of artwork to create so as I sat at my art desk, trying to decide what to do for this year's 6x6 piece, I figured I'd create one of my village scenes that I enjoy making.
This piece took me a few hours to create and I love how it turned out! So many colors, textures, patterns and personality in one little piece! "See the Positive" is collaged on the front along with a pretty butterfly.
You can see my process video of this project on my YouTube channel and see how I made it. I've got 3 other Village canvases available for purchase in my shop! Blue, Yellow and Purple villages are all ready to ship! Stop by and check them out!
Enjoy your day!
Owl mixed media canvas series (4 in the set, each sold separately). The canvases are finished on all sides so they can be hung up right away. They can also stand alone, on a mantle, windowsill or desk.
