Mail Box Art Treasures: July
This month was a busy one with all sorts of beautiful pieces of art arriving in my mailbox daily from art friends across the world. There were pieces from Washington, Florida and even France!
First off, let me share with you what I have been working on. My very first mixed media art doll! I've never done one like this, out of wooden blocks (actually the wood that you attach to rubber stamps) and I really enjoyed it. It was a fun, creative and exciting learning experience for me and I'm looking forward to doing more.
These pieces I received from my dear friend Louise, all the way from France! We've been working on Artist Trading Koins in our group and this was her orange version. Very cool!
Next up are these Artist Trading Koins (red theme) from my friend Toni. I love red, white and black together on this double-sided koin!
This double-sided koin is from my friend Julia. She's so creative and inspires me daily with all of her overly awesome creativity.
Remember how a bunch of us were making "friendship journal pages" to swap? Well, this beauty came from my talented friend Janine and it is just lovely to look at. This art journal collaborative project is nearly finished and once all the pages have arrived, I'll be sure to show you how I bind it all together!
Artist Trading Koins have really taken over our groups and we're all having a blast creating these fun and addictive mini pieces of art. I've got a whole little box in my studio of koins I've created and they're ready to swap (if you're interested in getting one, drop me a note and I'll send one to you!)
These "face" themed koins are from my friend Candace and they are RIDICULOUS! So gorgeous and full of detail and ephemera. I can't stop staring at them!
As many of you know, my dad died a little over a month ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss my best friend. He was by far the coolest.
My sweet friend Neha sent me this "scrap doll" that she made and I just adore it. Quirky and funky and it just puts a smile on my face looking at it. She also sent me this postcard from a Norman Rockwell painting that she thought I'd enjoy. Well, I do. It reminds me of my folks and it's a special reminder of my dad now that he's moved on.
Another cool artist trading koin arrived from my dear Judy. This was for the color orange theme and I love how she used the butterfly on the front and the face imagery on the back!
Sharon never disappoints with her swaps and this one was no different! Look at these fun and shiny double-sided artist trading koins! I love them! Each koin has a lot of different color and layers, making them look different from every angle.
Finally, the last swap that I participated in for June was the "Create 3 handmade items" swap. The partner that I sent to is all the way in Australia and probably hasn't received what I sent her yet. But I got a wonderful array of goodies from my friend Sandra and I am just sooooo super excited to work with these pieces! She handmade a beautiful art journal out of gorgeous watercolor paper that I am having heart palpitations over because it is just so perfect! Thank you for such a thoughtful and creative package of goodies, Sandra! I can't WAIT to get started on this journal!
Glad that I was able to share these wonderful art treasures with you! Enjoy the rest of your day!
