End of the Year Teacher's Gifts to Kick Off Summer Vacation
Happy Summer Solstice! We are so excited to finally be on summer vacation with no rushing around in the mornings with school lunches, sneakers, homework and after school activities. School vacation is about my favorite time of year because I get to be in the company of these 3 awesome kids that make me smile and laugh every single day.
With the end of the year coming, as the room parent it was my job to coordinate gifts for the teachers. They work so hard all year long doing such a wonderful job teaching our kids that I think it's important to thank them for all that they do. And let's face it, I'm just not the kind of person who wants to give teachers an apple mug with a "#1 Teacher" on it. They've got plenty of that sort of stuff that they've collected over the years from previous classes. My plan each year is to give them something they can use for themselves (like an Amazon gift card that I can purchase using monetary donations from the parents in the class). Then I do the painting as something they can keep as a happy reminder of a great year.
Each year, I paint each teacher a painting to commemorate the class and put the children's names on them in an unassuming way. That way, the painting can be hung or displayed as an art piece first, and as a memento second. My theme is typically flowers because I think it signifies the growth that each child has during their school year with that teacher.
These paintings were created on a large canvases. On 3 of the 4 sides, I put the names of each of the children in the class so the teachers can look back and remember each child and the fun they had this school year.
As I write this blog post, my kids are still sleeping! Taking advantage of the first day of summer vacation by sleeping late and enjoying a nice long slumber! The way a summer vacation should be!
Have a great day!
